Not only was Ms Perry nominated for a Grammy for her smash hit "I Kissed A Girl", but she was asked to perform the song live at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday.

Katy has every reason to kiss a girl and like it this week as her debut album "One Of The Boys" released in August, hit platinum sales in Australia. Canada, Ireland & now Australia are the first three countries to go platinum and this is only the beginning!
Quite easily one of, if not THE most recognisable biggest smash hits of 2008, "I Kissed A Girl" picks up a Grammy nomination in the category of BEST FEMALE POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE for 2008 with Katy up against Leona Lewis, Duffy, Sara Bareilles and Adele. The winners will be announced on the 8th February, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Fresh from causing a media frenzy in Australia throughout October, Katy Perry returned to the USA to prepare for her upcoming tour which will see her play headline shows throughout North America, Europe and Asia til May 2009. Back home, the title track from the album "One Of The Boys" hits #11 (from #13) on the National Airplay Chart this week whilst the radio hit "Hot N Cold", sits comfortably at S. The album holds at #8 on the Motorola ARIA Top 50 albums chart this week.

Hot on the heels of Katy Perry's debut album release last Saturday,
comes both rumours of a visit to Australia in October, and confirmation
that her #1 reigning single 'I Kissed A Girl' has gone platinum with
sales of over 70,000 copies.
'I Kissed A Girl' was co-written by
Perry and produced by Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald (Avril Lavigne, Kelly
Clarkson). It was a #1 digital song chart hit in both the US and Canada
and also topped the US iTunes Top Songs chart, was a #1 US iTunes
Ringtone, and a number 2 US Music Video.
But enough about that
single, let's chat about the album. 'One Of The Boys' is a sharp and
witty pop-rock gem filled with candid tales of neurotic ex-boyfriends
(‘Hot N Cold’, ‘U R So Gay’, ‘Mannequin’), crazy road trips with
friends (‘Waking Up in Vegas’), and figuring out who you are along the
way (first single ‘I Kissed A Girl’, ‘Fingerprints’). While the album
displays Perry’s feisty, girl-power swagger, it also reveals her more
vulnerable side on such regretful ballads as ‘Lost’, ‘I’m Still
Breathing’ and ‘Thinking of You’.
"I think people can appreciate
a songwriter who shows different sides, and this album has many
different colours,” Perry says. “I can write my share of angry break-up
songs but I wanted to balance it out with fun, summertime songs. But
there are also sad songs about loss and making the wrong decisions.
It’s been blood, sweat, and tears making this record. I’ve put
everything into it and I feel like it’s my baby. When people listen to
it, I hope they will understand where I’m coming from as a person."

The fabulous Katy Perry is the midst of the Vans Warped Tour which tramples its way across America from mid June to August 17. We're madly anticipating a rumoured Australian tour this year, but in the meanwhile, we have to settle for updates from Warped.
She's been turning on the video camera at every opportunity, so thankfully we know exactly what she's been up to. Turns out she's lugging around her own equipment and getting buried neck-deep in sand. What else would you expect!?

Meanwhile, Katy's still going on about kissing girls (and liking it). This time she wants to lock lips with Miley Cyrus (à la Britney/Madonna) at this year’s VMAs. "How hilarious would that be?" She suggested, but admits "I don't think it would help her career. However it would definitely help mine."
